Our Story
A New Chapter,
The Same Commitment.
Broken Plate Catering began in 2004 with a simple idea from founder Joe Schuh: great food has the power to bring people together. What started as cooking for family gatherings and friends’ celebrations quickly grew into something bigger. Guests loved the food, hosts loved the experience, and before long Broken Plate Catering became a trusted name for events throughout the community.

Built on a foundation of scratch cooking, generous portions, and genuine hospitality, the company developed a reputation for serving food that feels both elevated and familiar—meals made with care that people remember long after the event ends
In 2016, Greg Czekala joined the team, bringing years of food industry experience and a deep passion for hospitality. His commitment to quality and service quickly made him an essential part of the company’s growth, and in 2018 he became a partner. When Joe retired in 2025, ownership transitioned to Greg and his wife, Lauren. Today, they proudly carry the Broken Plate tradition forward while continuing to grow the business for the future.
As a family-owned and operated company, Broken Plate Catering remains rooted in the values it was built on: house-made food, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, and a strong connection to the community we serve. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, fundraiser, funeral luncheon, or backyard celebration, our goal is simple—serve incredible food and create an experience your guests will remember long after the plates are cleared.

Rooted in Community
We believe great food should do more than fill plates—it should bring people together.
Giving back to our community has always been at the heart of what we do. From hosting local fundraisers and donating portions of our Burger of the Month, to participating in local events such as domestic chef events supporting the local DVC and creating our own events such as Weekend for the Warming Shelter raising funds and donations for our Warming Shelter, we’re proud to support causes that matter close to home.
Each year, we also offer a free Christmas meal and maintain a Giving Wall for those in need of a meal. We continue to partner with local organizations raise funds and awareness and build connections within our community.
Thank you for supporting a family-owned business that believes in taking care of its neighbors.
